Blog post, Hanks Design Featured in Logo Challenge

Creative Alliance of Tacoma

In 2017, Creative Alliance of Tacoma held a design challenge. Logo designers were challenged to redesign a logo from their design past, the older the better. The point of the challenge was to demonstrate growth and promote the talent within the Tacoma, WA area.

The Logo Redesign

Participate in this logo design challenge and see what other designers create. The goal of this challenge is to promote you, show off your talent, and demonstrate your growth. Your work on the project will be featured in a blog post with a backlink to your site on this web site and on our social media platforms as part of this series.

Here are the guidelines:

  • Choose a logo design from your own design past.
  • Redesign it.
  • Tell the story about the redesign. (Ex: Why did you choose this different direction?)
  • Make final images 1200 px wide by 801 pix tall.
  • Email the before & after images, design story, and your URL

Challenge Accepted

I chose to redesign the logo I designed 15 years ago for Armstrong In-Home Care & Respite Services. I thought this particular logo would be a good one to redesign because the original was a bit complex. Simplifying the design would be a great challenge and make the logo mark more representative of what they provide.

“‘Care’ stands out, which is why I added a heart to represent the kind of care and attention we want for our loved ones.”

I truly enjoyed this logo redesign challenge. I stretched my creative muscles and created something thoughtful and meaningful. You can read more about the redesign and see the before and after designs on the Creative Alliance of Tacoma’s blog.
